A concealed hand takes no discards until the one that finishes it. Every other tile comes from the wall, so you are drawing perhaps a quarter of the tiles that pass by.
What you get for it is silence. Nobody can name your hand, so nobody plays around you, and the discards keep coming.
Note
You can still swap for an exposed joker without breaking concealment. It is the one way a concealed hand ever gains one.
Reading ahead is fine. The path takes lessons in order, so this one ticks off once you get here.
