Quints, and what jokers are for

A quint asks for five of a tile, and only four exist. So a quint hand cannot be finished without at least one joker, and usually wants two or three.
That makes it the clearest case of choosing a hand from what you hold. With three jokers a quint hand is genuinely reachable. With none it is not a hand at all.
Tip
Quints are also where exposed jokers are most at risk, because you are showing several at once on a tile people hold. Count the real tiles before you commit.
