Most hands finish on somebody's discard, which means most hands finish on a tile you had to wait for another player to let go.
That is worth knowing when you choose between two ways to finish. Waiting on a tile people discard freely is a very different wait from one they are all holding.
Note
The tile nobody will ever discard is the one they can all see you need. Late in a hand, the wait you can actually complete is often the less obvious one.
