Reading the Table
Hot tiles and cold tiles
Which discards are safe, and why.
Intermediate · lesson 18 of 22
A cold tile is one nobody can want. The safest tile in the game is one already sitting in the discards, because a hand that needed it would have called it.
A hot tile is the opposite: unseen, and useful to a hand someone has already shown you. Late in a hand, an unseen tile is the most dangerous thing you can discard, because everything safe has already been played.
Tip
This is why holding one genuinely dead tile back is worth a little. It is your safe discard for the turn where every other option is a risk.
Reading ahead is fine. The path takes lessons in order, so this one ticks off once you get here.
